Hillel of Sonoma County is the center of Jewish life on campus for Sonoma State University, Santa Rosa Junior College, and throughout Sonoma County. Our goal at Hillel of Sonoma County is to bring people of all backgrounds together to celebrate Judaism and Jewish life, while cultivating a strong sense of community that upholds Jewish values. Our student-run activities include Shabbat dinners, social programming, and much more. We strive to provide and maintain a safe and welcoming space for all Jewish students on campus. Join us to hang out with friends, meet new people, and connect with the Jewish community!
Today our mission is simple, connect students to a diverse and vibrant Jewish campus community filled with celebration, learning, and creativity.
Hillel of Sonoma County was founded in 1999 to give students from Sonoma State University and Santa Rosa Junior College a space to engage in Jewish life each semester. We began as a small subsidiary of the local Jewish Community Alliance (JCA), holding occasional Shabbat dinners for a few students in their dorm rooms. In 2025 a new Bay Area partnership was formed; Sonoma Hillel is now proudly sponsored by SF Hillel. Today, our programming and student involvement continues to grow as we serve more students every year.
