One Sukkot tradtion is to share our blessings with others by inviting friends, familly and strangers to eat with us in our Sukkah, our temporary dwelling. So we’re doing just that. Hillel is inviting you and your friends to come and have a slice (or two) of Pizza with your Hillel friends and family and any passing strangers who decide to join us.
Every Wednesday @ Charlie Brown’s at SSU, 11:30-12:30 (Beginning this week Sept. 26th)
This week we begin an ongoing weekly drop-in learning about Judiams. If you are interested in deepening your knowledge of Judaism then come join us as we learn from and engage in discussion of Jewish wisdom writings. Open to everyone.
Sunday, September 23rd, 11:30 meet at Hillel and carpool
Tashlich is a popular ritual of the high holiday season where we symbolically cast our misdeeds from the past year into a body of free flowing water. Once again this year we are going to make a trip to the Russian river for Tashlich, followed by a picnic lunch. This is a fun and meaningful ritual, and the beautiful setting of the Russian river should make this a really great afternoon.
Already done tashlich this year? Then come along and join us for a picnic at the river.
RSVP to director@sonomahillel.org so we’re sure to have enough cars and food. Let us know if you need a ride or if you can offer a ride.
Saturday, September 22nd, 7:45pm @ Hillel (fast ends at 7:48)
Break the Yom Kippur fast with your friends at Hillel.
Whether you have been fasting or not, come to Hillel for this delicious holiday celebration.
Friday, September 21st
Because Friday night is Yom Kippur, a fast day, we won’t be having Shabbat dinner at Hillel this week. We’ll be back next week with a special Shabbat dinner in the Sukkah.
Thursday, September 13th, 2pm @ The Lake at SSU
The first of our two Tashlich events is in coordination with congregation Ner Shalom (with whom Hillel shares a building). It will be led by Tsvi Bar-David (who led our High Holiday teaching last weekend) and followed by a potluck lunch. No tickets, no RSVP. Just show up and bring some food to share (if you can).
